Laragai House

Laragai House is a family home built on Borana Conservancy, a perfect escape for a group of friends or families who would like to stay in an exclusive use property. The house sleeps 16 guests in eight bedrooms who are warmly received by our team of highly experienced staff.

Due to Laragai House’s connection to the Borana and Lewa wildlife conservancies, community members have access to the outcomes of many years of conservation efforts.

Designed and furnished in grand country-house style, Laragai was constructed by two English Lords, Michael & Valentine Cecil, in the early 1990s as an idyllic weekend getaway. It features ebony furniture made to order, Rajasthani carpets, bronzes of rhino and elephants, mounted antique swords, family photos and heirlooms, and large 19th-century gold mirrors that serve as the focal point of the interior. There are also paintings of wildlife from all over Africa.

Laragai house takes great pleasure in its outstanding farm-to-table dishes. The produce comes from the nearby 100-acre organic farming venture known as Kabati Regenerative Farm. Fresh fruits and vegetables are combined with meat from the Conservancy that has been reared naturally. The result is tasty and nutritious home cooking.

The best place to see wildlife is from the home’s terrace, which views out over a dam that is home to herds of elephant, buffalo, and even lion prides. There are day and night game drives, guided wildlife, birding, and scenic walks, beginner and advanced rider horseback riding, sundowners, picnics, and bush dinners available at Laragai House.

Wildlife viewings can be enjoyed from horseback, open cars, on foot or from the house itself.
