African safari Serengeti is one of the many packages that we include in our itinerary as Luxe Africa Safaris. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s premier conservation area, is a must-visit for both first-time and seasoned safari travelers alike.

It is home to one of the biggest concentrations of wildlife in the world as well as the majority of the Great Wildebeest Migration.

No matter what time of year you come, the Serengeti offers an incredible safari experience due to the abundance of species there. Some wildebeest, zebra, and antelope migrate to new grazing grounds, but not all do, and no predators follow the herds. The vast plains, expansive meadows, and moderate temperature ensure that wildlife may always be seen and that the weather is almost never too bad to go outside.

The Serengeti’s huge, rolling grasslands and golden savannah, which are also known as “the land that moves on forever” in Maa, give visitors a soul-stirring feeling of spaciousness. Despite being most known for hosting millions of wildebeest, it is also home to substantial populations of zebra, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, and other types of gazelle and antelope.

One of the few remaining large-scale terrestrial animal migrations, the Great Wildebeest Migration, is the principal attraction that draws so many nature lovers to the Serengeti, particularly in the middle of the year. Like nothing else, seeing biblical-sized herds of animals travel over the plains will move your spirit. One of Mother Nature’s most amazing displays, for sure! As they travel from one location to another, the herds face difficulties and sufferings. They are frequently attacked by predators like Africa’s big cats and the infamously enormous crocodiles that wait at river crossing places.

Many first-time tourists to East Africa desire to cross off seeing the Serengeti from their bucket list. But even for people who have been to Africa frequently before, the amazing diversity of animals and outstanding lodgings make it an ideal safari destination. Private, secluded camps provide unforgettable honeymoon getaways in Africa, while family-friendly lodges provide exciting, kid-friendly safari activities. To accommodate guests with unique dietary needs, an increasing number of lodges now serve vegetarian and vegan meals. Other safari pursuits like mountain biking, horseback riding and even archery are being added by several lodges.

This area of the Serengeti National Park is the most accessible, so it can get a little busy from approximately July to October. It is characterized by undulating, tree-studded grassland plains.

Massive herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle travel into the southern Serengeti from roughly November to March to feed on new grass and give birth. In other words, the predators, notably the lion, leopard, and cheetah, seize every chance to pursue simple prey.

The Serengeti National Park’s central region offers excellent year-round animal watching and is home to a wide variety of safari camps and hotels. The region supports a high density of plains game, leopard, cheetah, and lion, and it provides ideal access to all the hotspots of the Wildebeest Migration.

One of the Serengeti’s most diverse habitats is found in the Seronera River Valley, which serves as a natural border between the region’s grassy plains in the south and its forested highlands in the north. Here, sightings of lion, cheetah, and leopard are frequent. African safari Serengeti is a never-to-miss destination when you tour Tanzania.
