The addition of Governors Mugie House to our other properties expands the already wide range of wildlife areas and activities. The venue is Mugie Conservancy, a nearly 50,000-acre private wildlife sanctuary in Laikipia that houses a variety of worthwhile community and environmental initiatives.

Eight stone houses with panoramic views of the Laikipia countryside are perched on a hill. Visitors may enjoy leisurely beverages and delectable meals served from a unique menu using resources from our own vegetable garden in the main house, which is a sizable structure with open log fireplaces. A waterhole located in front of Governors Mugie House draws a variety of animals that comes to drink, while an infinity pool offers excellent shaded places and a relaxed outdoor eating area.

Additionally, tourists may take use of the nine-hole golf course at Mugie Conservancy, which is ideal for playing a game with other golf-loving visitors or as a group. Securing space for wildlife is a crucial conservation requirement in Africa today, and Governors Mugie House offers a crucial animal access route between the Samburu regions to the north and east, the Mathews Range, and the Laikipia plateau. Numerous animal species, including important endemic northern Kenyan species like Grevy’s zebras, Jackson’s hartebeests, beisa oryxes, and reticulated giraffes, find refuge in the vast acacia-dotted savannahs, olive woods, and scrubby bush.

Stone cottages with ensuite bathrooms and fireplaces are well decorated. Each has a wide-ranging view of the surroundings or the vibrant Governors Mugie House garden.

Enjoy a private plunge pool on your porch while taking in unending views of the Laikipia plains in the apartment (one suite). A large sitting space with a wide porch and a private plunge pool connects the double and twin rooms.

There are 18 beds at Governors Mugie House. In the center of the conservancy, all of the cottages are arranged around a hill, providing expansive views of the Laikipia plains and Mt. Kenya. There are open log stoves and excellent bathtubs in every roomy cabin. Governors Mugie House staff offers services to the guests on demand. When the alarm goes off in the morning, tea and coffee are already in the rooms.

Governors Mugie House offers the guests a continental and full English buffet is served for breakfast. For those who want to go on full- or half-day game drives, picnics or packed dinners can be provided. Bookings for bush dinners are available at an additional fee. On request, we provide special diet catering.

All ‘non-premium’ spirits, house wines, soft drinks, and beers are included in the overnight charge. The cost of champagnes, certain good wines, expensive spirits, and liqueurs will be added on. We retain the right to impose beverages extra or a drinks consumption fee for groups and incentives.
