The Great Wildebeest Migration Safari in Masai Mara
Around July, the wildebeest arrive at the Masai Mara, crossing the Mara River. This is a perilous stage of the migration, as crocodiles lie in wait to ambush the crossing animals. It is a dramatic spectacle, attracting numerous predators such as lions, hyenas, and crocodiles, who take advantage of the vulnerable prey.
The wildebeest remain in the Masai Mara until around October or November when the rains start in the southern Serengeti again. They then start their journey back south, completing the circle. The entire migration is a constant cycle of movement, driven by the need for food, water, and reproduction.
It’s important to note that the migration patterns may vary slightly from year to year, influenced by weather conditions, availability of resources, and other factors.
