The name of this safari camp tells it all. The name Mahali Mzuri, which means “beautiful place” in Swahili, was very suitable.

Mahali Mzuri
One of just five safari lodges permitted to operate in the restricted private Olare Motorogi Conservancy; this Mahali Mzuri is tucked up against the northern border of Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. A spectacular variety of wild species, including elephants, wildebeests, lions, zebras, and leopards, may be seen in the reserve. The region is teeming with life, and the camp’s skilled Maasai trackers and guides are skilled at finding even the most elusive of animals. The beautiful surroundings only enhance the romantic “Out of Africa” atmosphere that most visitors report experiencing while staying here.
Mahali Mzuri camp is surrounded by a variety of wild animals. The conservancy’s boundaries are home to a number of different lion prides, so you could even see a wilderness territorial fight. They are known to engage in conflict from time to time over control of the region. In this region, there are also about 150,000 wildebeest.
They don’t take part in the historic ‘Great Migration’ that occurs every year, but they appear quite satisfied to remain where they are. Up to one million wildebeest, hundreds of zebras, gazelles, eland, and topi travel 1,600 kilometers through Tanzania and Kenya as part of the Great Migration. Predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas profit from the massive animal parade.
In terms of the level of comfort and elegance provided to visitors, Mahali Mzuri is unmatched. The camp includes a cozy and welcoming main tent in the center in addition to twelve luxurious safari tents. With an open fireplace, a library full of books, free iPads for guests to use, an iPod docking station and speaker system, a games console, and television, the main tent offers a very laid-back and comfortable lounge area. Although they are free to use, it would be best to bring your own binoculars.
Breakfast and lunch are served at a sizable communal table that can accommodate up to 24 guests on the main tent’s spacious deck. One of the best aspects of the Mahali Mzuri is a common area that is furnished perfectly.
Lunch is typically eaten with individual tables outside on the main deck at Mahali Mzuri. Before going on a nighttime game drive, you can stop for an afternoon tea if you’re only hungry before dinner. Dinner is given either at a big communal table in the wilderness or in a more private setting for just two people. On occasion, the camp provides Maasai dancers beside the campfire for dinnertime entertainment. We advise asking the bartender for a Kenyan Dawa after a long safari day. It is vodka, lime juice, and honey drink.
The team at Mahali Mzuri goes above and beyond from early in the morning until late at night to make sure visitors have a pleasant stay. Every meal is prepared by the camp’s chefs using ingredients that are locally obtained, and all meals and drinks (including excellent champagne) are included in the cost of your stay. At any time of day, visitors are free to assist themselves to anything they like. Simply inform the camp in advance of any particular dietary requirements, and they will prepare meals appropriately. The cooks at the camp design cuisines that are influenced by other cultures.
