In an effort to conserve wildlife and minimize human impact in the Mara, the Masai people came together and formed private conservancies to conserve their land and wildlife. These conservancies have strict guidelines including a maximum number of visitors allowed as well as the number of accommodation options in each conservancy thus creating a feeling of exclusivity.
Some of these conservancies have a higher concentration of wildlife due to minimal human interaction. The conservancies also offer a more exclusive and flexible wildlife experiences like bush walks, night game drives, activities not allowed in the main Masai Mara reserve.
